Paris Climate Change Conference, COP 21 Week 5

The pact is the first to commit all countries to cut carbon emissions.
The agreement is partly legally binding and partly voluntary.
Earlier, key blocs, including the G77 group of developing countries, and nations such as China and India said they supported the proposals.
President of the UN climate conference of parties (COP) and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said: "I now invite the COP to adopt the decision entitled Paris Agreement outlined in the document.
"Looking out to the room I see that the reaction is positive, I see no objections. The Paris agreement is adopted."
US President Barack Obama has hailed the agreement as "ambitious" and "historic", but also warned against complacency.
"Together, we've shown what's possible when the world stands as one," he said.
And although admitting that the deal was not "perfect", he said it was "the best chance to save the one planet we have".
China's chief negotiator Xie Zhenhua said the deal was not perfect. But he added that "this does not prevent us from marching historical steps forward".
Nearly 200 countries took part in the negotiations to strike the first climate deal to commit all countries to cut emissions, which would come into being in 2020.
The chairman of the group representing some of the world's poorest countries called the deal historic, adding: "We are living in unprecedented times, which call for unprecedented measures.
"It is the best outcome we could have hoped for, not just for the Least Developed Countries, but for all citizens of the world."

The Revenant,  Leonardo Dicaprio,  Oscar,  best actor Week4

He was named best actor at the 88th Academy Awards, with Brie Larson named best actress for Room.
Spotlight took home the best picture Oscar with Mad Max: Fury Road picking up the most awards of the night, with six accolades.
Mark Rylance won the best supporting actor Oscar, with fellow Briton Sam Smith winning best original song.
The ceremony had been boycotted by some Hollywood figures protesting about the lack of ethnic diversity among this year's nominees, as all 20 nominees in the best acting or supporting acting categories are white.
Host Chris Rock addressed the controversy head on as he launched the ceremony, and it was a theme that was returned to several times during the night.
Rock commented he had "counted at least 15 black people" in the montage that opened the ceremony, before welcoming people to the "white People's Choice awards".
"You realise if they nominated hosts, I wouldn't even get this job," he quipped. "Y'all would be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now."
Rock added: "Everyone wants to know is Hollywood racist? You have to go at it the right way. Is it burning-cross racist? Fetch-me-some-lemonade racist? No.
"It's a different kind of racist. Is Hollywood racist? You're damn right it's racist but it's sorority racist. It's like: We like you Rhonda, but you're not a Kappa.''
Among the winners for Mad Max: Fury Road - nominated for 10 Oscars including best director for George Miller - was British designer Jenny Beavan, for best costume design.
The Revenant won three of the 12 awards for which it was nominated. Alejandro Inarritu also won best director and Emmanuel Lubezki won his third Oscar for cinematography in a row, having won in 2015 for Birdman and 2014 for Gravity.

refugee,  Aylan Kurdi,  Hungarian reporter,  Hudea,  surrender,  camera,  gun,  Omran Week3

The boy and his family were Kurds from Syria trying to reach relatives in Vancouver, British Columbia, CNN partner CTV reported.
In addition to the boy, Aylan Kurdi, 3, his brother, Galip, and their mother, Rehen, also died, according to Fin Donnelly, a member of the Canadian Parliament.
The boys' aunt, Tima Kurdi, who lives in Vancouver, had filed refugee paperwork to get her relatives permission to come live in Canada, but the application had been rejected in June, Donnelly told CTV.
Kurdi informed Donnelly that her brother and the children's father, Abdullah Kurdi, called her to tell her that the boys and their mother died trying to make the crossing from Turkey to Greece.
Members of the family told CTV on Wednesday night that they were too distraught to speak to the media.
It appears that in the middle of the night, Tima Kurdi went on Facebook and posted the horrific image of her nephew dead on the beach and juxtaposed it next to a family photo of the boy smiling shyly, wearing a yellow jacket, his hair neatly combed. He stands shoulder to shoulder with his brother.
Kurdi wrote: "My deepest condolences to my brother's family who suffered a tragic death in search of a better life. Where is the humanity in the world. They did not deserve this. My heart is broken. Rest in peace Angels."

Paris terror attack, Charlie Hebdo,  Paris magazine attack, Abaaoud,  blindfolded Muslim,  hug Week2

Fear that anywhere and anyone could be a target.
A sudden noise, and hundreds flee from a square. The air is thick with sirens. Controlled explosions of suspect packages are routine. Public gatherings are banned.
One week after terror attacks took the lives of 130 people in Paris, the French capital is in a somber mood -- and the French government is set on revenge.
"France is at war," declared President Francois Hollande, ordering dozens of airstrikes against ISIS, which claimed responsibility for the attack. The aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle arrived in the eastern Mediterranean, tripling France's ability to bomb, and at home sweeping new security powers were introduced.
The contrast with January is striking. Then -- after the gun attack on the magazine Charlie Hebdo -- the French people rallied with massive demonstrations in defense of free speech.
Charlie Hebdo was targeted for publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. The response was a celebration of diversity, a coming together of faiths and ethnicities in this most multicultural, but fractious of European societies.
"We can draw anything, including a prophet, because in France, the France of Voltaire and irreverence, we have the right to make fun of religions," Justice Minister Christiane Taubira said.
The solidarity hashtag #jesuischarlie went viral. A dozen world leaders joined a march through Paris. And sales of Voltaire's Treatise on Tolerance leapt.

Malala Yousafzais,  shot,  Nobel Peace Prize Week1

Friends and family of Malala Yousafzai expressed pride and jubilation Friday after she was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize – but some in conservative Pakistan still view the campaigning teenager with suspicion. There were celebrations on the streets of her home town of Mingora, where she was shot by the Taliban in 2012, with residents greeting each other and distributing candies. "We are so proud," said Ahmad Shah, principal of the local Sarosh Academy. “I was across the street when she was shot. And I now I see this day. What a day."
Malala's father, Ziauddin, said the award would “boost the courage” of the 17-year-old and “enhance her capability to work for the cause of girls' education.” Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam said: "She's the youngest recipient ever of the prize and makes us proud. Her hard work is resonant of her Pakistani roots and her selfless dedication."
Still, Malala's success as a symbol of defiance against militants who oppose education and rights for women have convinced some Pakistanis she is a Western agent intent on damaging the country’s reputation. She remains effectively exiled in Britain, unable to return to her homeland because of Taliban death threats. On Facebook, “We Hate Malala” pages have garnered thousands of likes. “It's ironic, really,” said Mehar Bokhari, 30, one of Pakistan's leading female news anchors. “She is such an inspiration for the rest of the world, yet we fail to gain any inspiration from her as a people and a nation.”
